The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mold preparation.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, producing a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-molding phase.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person taking care of the operation can then remove the finalized item from the mold. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of similar products.
