1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined measure of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The coloration intended for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and put within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per min. Something that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and strength, creating a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more step that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing bending of the product.

4. The unloading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the component inside te mold has cooled adequately, the person handling the operation can then remove the finalized product from the mold. The technique is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of similar products.
