The Rotomoulding Method in Detail

1. Mold fitting.
A fixed quantity of polymer in particle form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
Once the material within te mold has cooled correctly, the person taking care of the procedure can then remove the completed product from the mold. The process is repeated from the beginning, making a series of identical products.
