1. Mold prep work.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The colour intended for the finished product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is vital at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, generating a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which generates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is another procedure that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quickly, causing warping of the product.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
When the component within te mould has cooled correctly, the molder handling the operation can then extract the finalized item from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, supplying a number of similar product lines.
