1. Mould preparation.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and positioned within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. The main thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, making a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
When the product inside te mould has cooled successfully, the molder handling the procedure can then take out the finished item from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of similar products.
