The Rotomoulding Process in Detail

1. Mold prep work.
A fixed measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color needed for the end item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. The main thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and durability, generating a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another step that relies a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
As soon as the product within te mould has cooled effectively, the molder handling the process can then take out the finalized product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of similar product lines.
