1. Mould preparation.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and positioned within the oven.
2. The heating and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. Something that is crucial at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and durability, creating a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.
3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional step that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing bending of the item.
4. The un-loading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the material within te mould has cooled properly, the molder managing the process can then take out the finalized item from the mold. The technique is repeated from the start, providing a number of identical product lines.
