The Rotomoulding Method in Detail

1. Mould prep work.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. One thing that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and strength, producing a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another step that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
Once the component within te mold has cooled properly, the molder taking care of the process can then take out the finished item from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, making a series of identical product lines.
