The Rotomolding Method Components

1. Mould prep work.
A predetermined volume of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color desired for the final goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and installed inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, making a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more measure that relies a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the material inside te mold has cooled effectively, the person taking care of the process can then extract the finished item from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of similar items.
