The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mold prep work.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and strength, making a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mould. This is another step that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing warping of the product.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
When the component within te mold has cooled correctly, the molder handling the operation can then take out the completed item from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, giving a number of exact product lines.
