The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mould preparation.
A fixed amount of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mold. The mould is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The turning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. Something that is critical at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, generating a poor item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which develops bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is another step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-molding phase.
As soon as the material within te mold has cooled adequately, the person handling the procedure can then remove the finalized item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, making a number of identical products.
