1. Mould preparation.
A fixed measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic engineering.

2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per min. The main thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, producing a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another procedure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
When the component inside te mold has cooled properly, the person managing the procedure can then remove the finished product from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, providing a series of identical product lines.
