1. Mold prep work.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color tone needed for the end goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and installed inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. One thing that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and durability, making a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which generates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional procedure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The unloading or de-molding phase.
When the component inside te mould has cooled successfully, the molder taking care of the process can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical product lines.
