The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color preferred for the final goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and placed into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is critical at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, creating a poor product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which produces bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is another measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
Once the material within te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the procedure can then remove the finished product from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, making a series of similar product lines.
