1. Mould fitting.
A predetermined measure of polymer in particle form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color preferred for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is vital at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, creating a weak product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more step that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the completed item from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of similar items.
