1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The coloring wanted for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic engineering.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, making a faulty product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled properly, the molder taking care of the operation can then extract the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a number of similar products.
