The Rotomoulding Process Components

1. Mould readying.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and put within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, making a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too fast, causing bending of the product.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
When the material inside te mould has cooled effectively, the person handling the procedure can then remove the finalized item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, supplying a series of similar product lines.
