1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 spins per min. One thing that is important at this point is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and strength, making a poor product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which produces bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the product inside te mold has cooled successfully, the person handling the procedure can then remove the finalized item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of exact items.
