The Rotomolding Process in Detail

1. Mold fitting.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose stability and durability, making a weak item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing bending of the material.

4. The unloading or de-moulding phase.
Once the component within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the procedure can then take out the completed item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a number of exact product lines.
