1. Mold prep work.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. One thing that is critical at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and durability, producing a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the material has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional measure that relies a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
When the component within te mold has cooled effectively, the person managing the process can then remove the finished item from the mold. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical product lines.
