The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mould fitting.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. One thing that is important at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and strength, generating a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The discharging or de-molding step.
As soon as the component inside te mold has cooled successfully, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, making a series of exact products.
