1. Mold fitting.
A fixed volume of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and put within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 spins per minute. Something that is vital at this point is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and strength, producing a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is another measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quickly, causing bending of the product.

4. The unloading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the product within te mould has cooled properly, the molder managing the process can then extract the finished item from the mould. The process is repeated from the beginning, providing a series of identical product lines.
