The Rotomolding Method Components

1. Mold readying.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and put within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is important at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and durability, generating a poor item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
As soon as the material inside te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the process can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, giving a number of similar product lines.
