The Rotomoulding Process Components

1. Mould prep work.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, generating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which produces bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the component within te mould has cooled adequately, the person handling the operation can then remove the finalized item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical products.
