1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color tone preferred for the end product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and installed into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. One thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which produces bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The offloading or de-moulding phase.
When the product inside te mold has cooled adequately, the molder handling the process can then extract the completed item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, supplying a series of exact items.
