The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and strength, making a poor item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which creates bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
When the material inside te mold has cooled properly, the molder handling the procedure can then remove the finished item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, giving a series of identical items.
