The Rotomoulding Procedure in Detail

1. Mold prep work.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. One thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose stability and durability, creating a poor item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another procedure that relies a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing bending of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
Once the product within te mould has cooled properly, the person managing the procedure can then take out the finalized item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a series of identical products.
