1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined volume of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and strength, generating a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which produces bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more step that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
When the product within te mould has cooled successfully, the person managing the process can then extract the completed product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of similar products.
