The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mold readying.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color tone intended for the end product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and put into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, producing a poor product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another step that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
Once the product within te mold has cooled adequately, the molder managing the process can then remove the completed product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, supplying a number of exact products.
