1. Mold prep work.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The coloration preferred for the final product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. One thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and strength, generating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which produces bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
Once the component within te mold has cooled properly, the person managing the process can then remove the finished product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, supplying a number of identical products.
