1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mold is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The coloration wanted for the end goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. Something that is important at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and durability, generating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which produces bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
When the component within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then remove the finished item from the mould. The process is repeated from the start, giving a number of similar items.
