1. Mold preparation.
A fixed quantity of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mould. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The coloration needed for the finished product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. One thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, generating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more procedure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
When the material within te mold has cooled properly, the person handling the procedure can then remove the completed product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a series of exact products.
