The Rotomolding Method Components

1. Mould readying.
A fixed quantity of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mold. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per min. Something that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and strength, producing a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another procedure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The unloading or de-molding phase.
Once the product inside te mould has cooled correctly, the person managing the process can then extract the finished product from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, providing a series of identical items.
