The Rotomolding Method Components

This molding process has been used since ancient times for creatingvseverl product lines. Egyptians for example, used rotomoulding methods in the creating of ceramics. 1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and strength, producing a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-molding phase.
As soon as the component within te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the process can then remove the finished item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of identical product lines.
