The Rotomoulding Process Components

1. Mold fitting.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. One thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and durability, making a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which generates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
When the material inside te mold has cooled successfully, the molder taking care of the process can then extract the completed item from the mold. The technique is repeated from the beginning, providing a series of identical items.
