1. Mold fitting.
A predetermined volume of polymer in particle form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and placed within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and durability, producing a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing warping of the product.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
Once the material within te mould has cooled properly, the person handling the operation can then remove the completed product from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, providing a series of identical items.
