The Rotomolding Procedure in Detail

1. Mold fitting.
A fixed volume of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic manufacturing.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and positioned within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and durability, producing a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which produces bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-molding phase.
When the material inside te mould has cooled properly, the molder handling the procedure can then remove the completed item from the mold. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of exact product lines.
