The Roto-Molding Method Components

1. Mold preparation.
A fixed measure of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. Something that is important at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, creating a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
When the product inside te mould has cooled properly, the person taking care of the process can then extract the finished product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of similar items.
