The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mould fitting.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color needed for the final product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, generating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is another step that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
Once the product inside te mold has cooled correctly, the person managing the process can then remove the finished product from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, making a series of similar products.
