1. Mould preparation.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and inserted into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, producing a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which produces bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the item.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
Once the material within te mold has cooled properly, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the finished item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of identical products.
