The Rotomoulding Procedure in Detail

1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The coloration needed for the final goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and placed within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, generating a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing warping of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
Once the product inside te mould has cooled effectively, the molder handling the process can then take out the finished product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, making a series of exact products.
