1. Mould fitting.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per minute. Something that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, generating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is an additional procedure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
When the product within te mold has cooled properly, the person handling the operation can then remove the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, giving a number of exact items.
