The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mould preparation.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The turning is done gradually, about 20 spins per minute. Something that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, producing a poor product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more measure that relies a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The discharging or de-molding step.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled successfully, the molder managing the process can then remove the finalized product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, making a number of identical products.
