The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mould readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color tone chosen for the finished product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and placed into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. The main thing that is important at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, generating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which develops bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is another measure that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding phase.
Once the product inside te mold has cooled adequately, the molder managing the process can then remove the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, providing a series of exact products.
