1. Mould readying.
A predetermined volume of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The coloration preferred for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and inserted inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is essential at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a weak item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which produces bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-moulding step.
Once the material within te mould has cooled successfully, the person handling the operation can then extract the finalized item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a series of identical products.
