1. Mould fitting.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color needed for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and positioned within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per min. One thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and strength, creating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more step that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the item.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product within te mold has cooled successfully, the molder managing the operation can then remove the completed item from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, making a series of similar items.
