1. Mold readying.
A fixed amount of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is critical at this point is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and durability, generating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is another step that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product within te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then take out the completed product from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, providing a series of exact products.
