The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mold preparation.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and placed into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per min. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, generating a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is an additional step that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the product.

4. The discharging or de-molding step.
As soon as the material within te mould has cooled effectively, the molder managing the operation can then remove the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, providing a series of exact products.
