1. Mould readying.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color desired for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. One thing that is critical at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, making a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which develops bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is another step that depends a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person handling the procedure can then extract the finished product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, making a number of similar items.
