1. Mould prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is critical at this point is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, generating a faulty product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which creates bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is one more step that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the material.

4. The offloading or de-molding step.
As soon as the product within te mold has cooled properly, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, making a number of similar product lines.
